A Brief History
Mater Misericordiae International Secondary School Anyigba (MMISSA) is a co-educational Catholic day and boarding school owned and managed by the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy Congregation. It was founded on the 17th of September 2018 by the then Superior General of the congregation Rev. Mother Mary Angeleen Umezurike (DMMM). Formerly, it started as Mercy Girls' Secondary School Anyigba for growing young girls only but later changed to Co-educational Secondary School with the new name Mater Misericordiae International Secondary School in September 2020 to replace the former name. This was to incorporate the growing young boys who were also in dire need of quality education and good moral upbringing within the immediate environment and other catchment areas in the vicinity of the school.
Mater Misericordiae International Secondary school Anyigba though a young catholic school is one of the best secondary Schools in Kogi State. It has a great vision for the growing young ones in the society and it is out to give quality education and promote a balance social life in the growing young ones. It welcomes young boys and girls of secondary school age and of all faith.
It has a conductive learning atmosphere with the adequate academic facilities and dedicated staff for quality education. We uphold moral training, academic excellence, creative mind and emotional balance.
The rise in poor moral conduct and its negative impact on the growing young adults in our society today necessitated a place of formation to impact in the growing young ones good moral upbringing and a balance social life. That is why it is better to catch them young for a better and prosperous tomorrow. According to Malcolm X:

Who We Are
Mater Misericordiae International Secondary School Anyigba (MMISSA) is a brain child of the Congregation of Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy whose charism is to bear witness to the Mercy of God by following the footsteps of Christ our Saviour and Mary our Merciful Mother.
This is expressed through educating the intellectually and physically poor as well as the growing young ones in the society so as to give them a better and greener future in life through the provision of quality education, good moral upbringing and a balance social life. That is why our maxim is

We uphold moral training of our students and empower them with skills that will help them outside classroom activities. We have sound and academically qualified teachers who are always ready and committed in discharging their duties.
